Five Application Program

We use a high quality, slow release fertilizing mix specific to our area.

First Application

  • Balanced Liquid Lawn Food
  • Pre-emergence Crabgrass Control
  • Dandelion Control
  • Micro-nutrient Supplement

Timing of Application

If this application was made before lawn clean up, water will wash the fertilizer materials into the soil; then do your mowing raking or aeration.

Watering

It is not necessary to water immediately after this application but water, rain or snow is needed to get the fertilizer into the soil so the grass can utilize it.

Weed Control

Weed varieties emerge at different times of the season and we can only control lawn weeds present at the time of application. Dandelion control takes approximately 14 to 21 days; other lawn weeds will take various lengths of time for control. Weeds emerging between rounds will be sprayed on the next scheduled round.

Second Application
  • Balanced Liquid Lawn Fertilizer (non burning)
  • Sod Webworm Control upon request, extra cost
  • Broadleaf Weed Control
  • Micro-nutrient Supplement

Watering

You do not have to water immediately after application but you must water or receive some rain after application to wash the lawn fertilizer into the soil to feed the grass. It is best to water your lawn every 3 to 5 days. Water for extended length of time to get the water to soak deep into the soil.

Not all sprinkler systems are calibrated correctly. Dry spots in a lawn can often be confused with legitimate lawn problems. If you have a "lack of luster" areas in your lawn, please check the soil moisture in that spot.

Mowing

Mowing should be done regularly at the 2-1/2 to 3 inch height. This is usually the highest setting on most mowers. If you are recycling your grass (which we recommend), we still recommend cutting at a 3-inch height. Cut it high and leave it lie.

Weed Control

Weed varieties emerge at different times of the season and we can only control lawn weeds present at the time of application. Dandelion control takes approximately 14 to 21 days; other lawn weeds will take various lengths of time control. Weeds emerging between rounds, such as creeping jenny, will be sprayed on the next scheduled round.

Disease and Insects

Disease and insects are an ever present problem in lawns during the summer. We have applied sod webworm control to your lawn. Sometimes the billbugs may be a problem and we will spot treat them for no charge if we find them during an application. Diseases are brought about by various weather-related factors. Turf diseases may necessitate an additional application of fungicide to your lawn at a standard charge.

Third Application

  • Balanced Liquid Lawn Fertilizer
  • Micro-nutrient Supplement
  • Spot Control of Sod Webworms and Billbugs upon request, extra cost
  • Broadleaf weed Control

Watering

You do not have to water immediately after application but you must water or receive some rain after application to wash the lawn fertilizer into the soil to feed the grass. It is best to water your lawn every 3 to 5 days. Water for extended length of time to get the water to soak deep into the soil. Check your sprinkler system to make sure you are getting water distribution.

Mowing

Please don't torture your lawn by mowing it short. Do your lawn a favor and set your mower at the highest setting possible. If you are recycling your grass (which we recommend), we still recommend cutting at a 3 inch height. Cut it high and leave it lie. We recommend recycling.

Lawn Disease

Turf diseases are brought about by various weather related factors and the particular cultivars of blue grass in the lawn. Turf diseases may necessitate an additional application of a fungicide to your lawn at a standard charge.

Weed Control

Weed varieties emerge at different times of the season and we can only control lawn weeds present at the time of application. Dandelion control takes approximately 14 to 21 days with other weeds taking various lengths of time for control. Weeds emerging between rounds will be sprayed on the next scheduled round. Weed control of 90 to 95% is considered excellent and we work very hard to produce 90+% control.

Fifth Application

The fall application of lawn fertilizer will feed the growing root system of your lawn until early winter. Your lawn root system of your lawn until early winter. Your lawn root system will then go into winter in a stronger, healthier condition, producing an earlier green up and more vigorous root system next spring. Turf agronomists proclaim a fall application of lawn fertilizer as the single most important feeding.

Watering

Timing of watering or rain fall is not important, but rain, water or snow is needed to dissolve the fertilizer and take it into the root system.

Mowing

We recommend mowing at a height of 3" through the fall. This is as high as most brands of mowers can be set. Mulching the grass in the fall is recommended.

Leaves

If there is an excessive amount of leaves on the lawn, raking or wind movement of the leaves will cause the fertilizer to be deposited on the soil to be used by the grass. After fertilizing, we will also blow the leaves depositing the fertilizer on the grass.

Fall Feeding Trees and Shrubs

We recommend fertilizing trees and shrubs every fall to accomplish the following:

  • Increased growth of young trees and shrubs
  • Increased winter hardiness and longevity
  • Improved color and density of canopy
  • Builds a hardier plant to resist and overcome disease and insects
  • Increases the livability of young plants less than ten years old
